Hybrid speed bump-PV-battery-grid power generation in a smart grid environment

To meet the growing demand for clean energy and improved availability factor in South Africa, various solutions are being proposed from academia industry. Therefore, this study, a non-conventional method of generating was designed constructed. The system harnesses kinetic vehicles driving over speed bumps converts it to electrical using generator. This is supplemented with generated solar PV panels provide sustainable power supply traffic streetlights. further operate grid connection as backup. An interface created give real-time monitoring electric generation consumption. setup also suitable areas limited/no access electricity, case loadshedding. results obtained during testing prototype demonstrate effectiveness reliable source electricity street lights ensure safety on roads avoidance congestion scalable future demands feed into smart environment.
